HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sunday's match got out to a fast start as just six seconds in, Penn State was awarded a penalty corner and came close to capitalizing, but van Eijck made the save to keep the Nittany Lions off the board. At the 2:19 mark, Stoetzer found the back of the PSU cage on a breakaway run to give the Hens a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Penn State knotted the game at one apiece with just under 10:00 to play in the first.
- The two squads entered the second period tied at 1-1, but after a UD penalty corner, Johnson promptly untied the game on an assist from Fulton to put Delaware ahead 2-1. The Nittany Lions continued to fight back, tallying five corners in the second quarter alone, eventually scoring on their third of the period to send the game into intermission knotted at 2-2.
- In the third period, the teams exchanged back-to-back goals on Jannssen's shot from the top of the circle and Sophia Gladieux's second goal, making it 3-3 with just under 13:00 to go in the period. Then, in the 43', Sabbagh found the back of the PSU cage as she deflected a ball from Johnson to put the Blue & Gold ahead 4-3 heading to the fourth period.
- In the final period, PSU held the Hens off the board for the first time as Katelyn Strawser tied the match at 4-4 in the 54' followed by Gladieux's third goal of the contest, making it 5-4, PSU.
