HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling behind 6-2 early, the Blue Hens clawed their way back to an 8-8 game thanks to stifling defense, holding Hofstra one for its subsequent nine attempts and a scoring drought of 2:48. The score sat at 10-8 in favor of the road team at the game's first media stoppage with 3:46 to play in the first quarter. The frame finished with a 6-2 Hofstra run, leaving a 16-10 game heading into the second quarter.
- UD used a 10-0 run over a 4:02 stretch and a Hofstra scoreless streak over 5:18 to lead 23-18 heading into the second quarter media stoppage. The Blue & Gold took a 32-24 advantage into the locker room after outscoring the Pride by 14 in the stanza.
- At the third quarter media timeout, the game was tied at 39 with Hofstra making its last three field goals and Delaware not making a field goal in 2:34. The third ended with Hofstra up four, flipping the script from the second frame.
- With 5:27 to go in the game, Hofstra hit a three and called timeout up 52-50, as the two teams continued to trade the lead back and forth. Cherisier scored eight of the Hens' nine points in the frame at the time of the Pride's stoppage. Both teams were scoreless for over two minutes following Hofstra's timeout before LaNae' Corbett broke the drought for Hofstra with a layup, leading to an 8-0 Pride run. Ella Wanzer hit a three for the Hens with 1:03 remaining to cut it to 59-55. The two teams traded a pair of made free throws, leaving the game 61-57 with 12 ticks remaining, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
