Men's Soccer Tops Omaha at Home

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team defeated Summit League opponent Omaha 6-0 at Grant Stadium on Saturday evening.
With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens' overall record becomes 11-1-1, and 2-1-0 in conference.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Rich Monath (3), Charles Giordano (2), and Connor Parry (1) scored for the Hens.
- This was Monath's 15th, 16th and 17th career goals, Giordano's fourth and fifth, and Parry's first as a Blue Hen.
- Monath's first half goal was assisted by Freddy Jeffreys, and his third goal was from Giordano. Giordano's first was assisted by Marius Stenner and Luke Chatten, and his second was from Cristobal Granada. Parry's goal was assisted by Jeffreys.
- JoJo Elliott Jr. started in goal for the Hens and recorded two saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 30th minute of play, Monath scored the first goal of the game from outside of the box off of an assists from Jeffreys.
- Giordano then doubled the Hen's lead going into the half off of assists from Stenner and Chatten.
- To kick off the second half, Monath scored back-to-back goals in the 48th and 58th minute of play for his second hat trick this week.
- Parry then extended UD's lead to five off of a ball from Jeffreys.
- In the 72nd minute of play, Giordano headed in a goal from Granada who was taking the corner kick.
GAME NOTES
- Monath scored the program's 18th hat trick and is the first player to score three goals in back-to-back games.
- This was Delaware second most goals they have scored in a single game this season.
- With the win, the Blue Hens continue their winning streak at home this season.
UP NEXT
The men's soccer program will travel to Tulsa, Okla. to take on Oral Roberts on Saturday, October 25th. First kick is at 7 p.m.
