Women's Tennis Shines at Dragon Invite

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's tennis team competed at the Dragon Invite over Halloween weekend, hosted by Drexel University.
The program sent Emma Akselrod, Katie Dollens, Payton Tomichek, and Hanna Vinahradava to compete in the three-day event.
ON THE RECORD
This was a great weekend of tennis, Director of Tennis and Head Coach Pablo Montana said. Thank you to Drexel for hosting us; the tournament was extremely well run. I saw a lot of positives, especially in how we bounced back in our last two matches. That said, there's still plenty of work to do. As we approach the offseason, we'll continue focusing on our strength and conditioning while maximizing our match play opportunities.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- The Fightin' Blue Hens won nine of 12 singles matches played, and went 5-1 in doubles action.
- Hanna Vinahradava went 6-0 across both singles and doubles play, extending her season totals to 10-1 in singles, and 4-2 in doubles.
- Emma Akselrod picked up three singles wins, and is now riding an eight-match win streak, dating back to last season.
GAME NOTES
- Vinahradava leads the Hens at 10-1 in singles action. She has doubled her win total in singles from the 2024-25 season (5) in only tournament play.
- Delaware moved to 55-20 in singles (.733) and 26-11 in doubles (.703).
