Men's Soccer Breaks Single Season Goal Record with Draw at No.25 Kansas City

Kansas City, Mo. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team tied No. 25 Kansas City 3-3 on the road Wednesday afternoon.
With the draw, the Fightin' Blue Hens' overall record becomes 12-1-3, and their conference record improves to 3-1-2, making them the third seed in the Summit League Conference Tournament.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Rich Monath (2) scored for the Hens.
- This was Monath's 18th and 19th career goals and 11th and 12th of the season.
- Both of Monath's goals were unassisted.
- JoJo Elliott Jr. started in goal for the Hens with a career-high eight saves on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 42nd minute of play Kansas City scored an own goal to put the Hens ahead 1-0 heading into halftime.
- Rich Monath scored the first goal of the second half after a corner kick from Jan Schroeder, doubling Delaware's lead.
- In the 71st minute of the game, Kansas City scored their first goal of the match.
- The Roos then tied the game up with 14 minutes left in the game.
- Monath found the back of the net for a second time to put Delaware up 3-2.
- Kansas City then made it an even match up with 1:47 left in the game off of a penalty kick.
GAME NOTES
- Delaware broke the program records for most goals in a single season with 48.
- Monath leads the Hens with 12 goals at the end of the regular season.
- Elliott Jr. made a career high eight saves, which ties the most saves in a game under Tommy McMenemy.

The men's soccer program will take on Kansas City on Sunday, November 9 for the semifinals of the Summit League Tournament.
