Kolliegbo Swipes Most Steals For UD Since 2008, Women’s Basketball Defeats Colgate 70-64 in OT

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Safi Kolliegbo swiped eight steals, the most by a Fightin' Blue Hen since 2008 as the University of Delaware women's basketball team defeated Colgate, 70-64, in overtime, Friday night at Cotterell Court. The Blue Hens have now won four-straight games, improving to 5-2, while the Raiders fell to 4-4.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Kolliegbo swiped a season-high eight steals to go with 12 points. Kolliegbo's eight steals are tied for the third-most in a single game in program history and the most by a Blue Hen since Kyle DeHaven had the same amount on February 28, 2008 vs. Georgia State.
- Ande'a Cherisier tied her season-best with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for her fourth-career double-double. It marked her second-consecutive double-double and the second-straight game she set a new career best in boards.
- Arantxa Portalez set a career-high with 14 rebounds, tying her previous best of six in the first half alone.
- Kailah Correa scored 14 points including going 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.
- Trinity Vance joined the trio in double figures, scoring 11 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead, helped by four points and four rebounds by Cherisier before the first media timeout. A 10-0 run by Colgate gave the home team the lead late in the frame before the Hens clawed back to even it at 12 at quarter's end.
- Two three-point plays allowed UD to gain some extra opportunities to open the second stanza. The Hens outscored the Raiders 17-11 in the second to take a 29-23 advantage into the locker room at the break, ending the half on a 9-2 run.
- At the third quarter media stoppage with 4:26 left, Colgate led 34-33, using an 11-4 run to start the frame. The quarter ended with the teams scoring six points a side, leaving a one-point lead for the Raiders heading into the fourth.
- Delaware used a 12-0 stretch over 6:39 to jump out to a 47-40 lead with 5:50 left in regulation. Colgate evened the game at 53 with 1:42 remaining in the fourth. UD had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but couldn't convert leaving a 53-53 tie heading into overtime.
- UD struck for the first five points of overtime, taking a 58-53 lead with 4:13 left in the first OT. Delaware held a wire-to-wire lead in the extra frame, making it a 70-64 final. The Blue & Gold tied their game-high for points in a quarter with 17 in just five minutes during the extra period.
GAME NOTES
- This is the first time that the Blue Hens have pulled down 50 rebounds in a game since February 23, 2024 against UNCW (54).
- Portalez' 14 defensive rebounds are the most by a Blue Hen since Ty Battle had 14 on March 3, 2022 at Towson.
- Jiya Perry made her first start of the season for Delaware.
- Delaware moved to 3-1 against Patriot League opponents this season. The Blue Hens rose to 7-3 against the Patriot League under head coach Sarah Jenkins.
