Cherisier Posts Season-High 21 Points as Women’s Basketball Knocks Off Monmouth For Fourth-Straight Win

NEWARK, Del. – Ande'a Cherisier posted a season-best 21 points as the University of Delaware women's basketball team knocked off the Monmouth Hawks, 70-61, on Friday night at the Bob Carpenter Center. The Blue Hens have now won four-straight games, improving to 8-14 (5-7 CAA), while the Hawks fall to 12-11 (7-5 CAA).

HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Cherisier's 21 points tied a career-best, while her 10 field goals set a new career-high on 14 attempts.
- Tara Cousins (13), Rebecca Demeke (12), and Chloe Wilson (12) joined Cherisier in double figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hens took a 6-0 run over 1:46 into the game's first media timeout up 10-8. UD's run reached a 15-2 advantage for nearly half the quarter, leading to a 19-10 lead. The Blue & Gold took a 22-16 lead into the second after a buzzer-beating three by Demeke.
- Delaware held a 28-23 lead at the second quarter media stoppage, trailing Monmouth by one in the stanza. The home team led 35-25 heading into the locker room, holding the Hawks scoreless for the final 2:30 of the half.
- Heading into the first media stoppage in the third quarter, each team made four of their last five field goals, leaving a 46-36 UD lead with 4:45 to go in the third quarter. A 14-2 run for the Hawks led to a Sarah Jenkins timeout with the game knotted at 48 and 1:49 to go in the third. Monmouth led 53-50 heading into the fourth quarter.
- With the game tied at 57 with 5:33 remaining, Delaware went on an 8-0 run over 4:13 to take a 65-57 lead with 1:20 left in the fourth. The Hens outscored the Hawks 20-8 in the final frame to take the contest.
GAME NOTES
- Cherisier recorded her third-straight game in double figures, while Cousins tallied her fourth-straight.
- The Blue & Gold improve to 7-2 when they have at least four scorers in double-digits.
