Ojo Scores Career-High 18 Points as #7 Women’s Basketball Downs #10 UNCW in CAA Championship Second Round

WASHINGTON – Michelle Ojo scored a career-high 18 points as the seventh-seeded University of Delaware women's basketball team took down the 10th-seeded UNCW Seahawks, 71-55 on Thursday night. The Blue Hens improve to 13-16 (9-9 CAA), while the Seahawks fall to 14-18 (8-10 CAA).

HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware won the rebounding battle 39-34.
- UD outscored UNCW 22-8 in the fourth quarter.
- Ojo tallied a career-best 18 points on 7-of-8 from the floor with seven rebounds.
- Ande'a Cherisier posted 11 points to go with two blocks and two steals.
- Chloe Wilson dropped 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
- Tara Cousins joined the cohort of double-digit scorers with 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- At the game's initial media timeout, UNCW held a 6-4 lead just over halfway through the first quarter. The score was even at 13 heading into the second quarter.
- The Seahawks took a 6-0 run into the second quarter media stoppage, leading 19-17. A personal 6-0 run for Ojo in 58 seconds gave Delaware a 25-21 lead with just over three minutes left in the first half. The Blue Hens took a 27-23 lead into the locker room at the break.
- Delaware led 39-36 at the third quarter media stoppage with 4:54 left in the frame. The Blue & Gold led by two after three.
- UD scored 11 unanswered to start the fourth quarter, opening up a 13-point lead with 5:28 to go in the final frame. The lead reached as high as 18 for the Blue Hens to take the contest.
GAME NOTES
- The win was the first in the CAA Tournament for Delaware since it won the 2022 championship game over Drexel.
- Cherisier posted her fifth-straight game with 10 or more points.
- Delaware improves to 11-3 when it has four or more players score in double figures.
