Men’s Lacrosse Takes Down Stony Brook Behind Five Goals From Powers

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's lacrosse earned a 17-9 victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves on Saturday afternoon at Delaware Stadium thanks to five goals from Brendan Powers. The Blue Hens improve to 6-4 (2-2 CAA), while the Seawolves fall to 5-6 (1-3 CAA).

HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Powers tallied seven points (five goals, two assists) to go with five ground balls and a caused turnover.
- John McCurry scored his fourth hat-trick of the season, while adding a ground ball.
- Finn Morgan posted his first hat-trick of the campaign.
- Hank D'Ambrogi and Jason Kolar each added two goals.
- Kevin Ellington made 15 saves, while allowing seven goals to earn the victory in cage.
- Freshman Drew Duncan scored his first career-goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hens scored the first six goals of the game, before Stony Brook answered with the next two. UD added a seventh first quarter tally with 2:36 remaining to take a 7-2 lead into the second frame.
- Delaware potted the first three goals in the second quarter to open up a 10-2 advantage. The Seawolves got one back with 3:30 left in the half to bring the deficit back to seven at the break.
- UD outscored Stony Brook 3-2 in the third stanza to take a 13-5 lead into the final frame.
- The two teams traded four goals apiece in the fourth quarter, leaving Delaware with a 17-9 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Delaware extends its winning-streak against Stony Brook to four games.
- Ben DeLuca improves to 5-0 in his career against the Seawolves.
