ON THE RECORD
- "Before the race we talked about proper prior preparation, and that preparation helped us feel confident in our abilities," Amari Randall of the Varsity Eight said. "It gave us peace going into the race knowing what we're capable of and ultimately putting together a complete race. I'm excited for tomorrow! I think we gave it our all today and I wholeheartedly trust the ladies in my boat that we have another gear. We have become one unit, and our unification is one of the fundamental factors that will push us towards reaching the ultimate goal tomorrow."
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- The Varsity Eight won its heat held a wire-to-wire lead, jumping off the line and gathering an open water lead for the first half of the race. Eastern Michigan and Drexel began to close the gap in the third 500m, but Delaware continued to hold the narrow lead.
- The Second Varsity Eight fell behind early in the race as Drexel held a lead over UConn and Villanova. The Dragons were able to hold on for the victory with the Wildcats and Huskies closing out the top three.
- The Varsity Four was battling with Drexel for the lead the entire way as the two boats held a 30-second advantage over Eastern Michigan and Villanova. The Blue Hens' second-place finish was good enough for a spot in the grand final tomorrow.
