NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's basketball has added transfer Nnanna Njoku, who is set to join the roster this fall, head coach Martin Ingelsby announced Wednesday.
"We're excited to welcome Nnanna home," Ingelsby said. "He's a skilled forward with a powerful build, a strong presence inside, and the ability to rebound, run the floor, and impact the game on both ends. Nnanna is a big-time addition to our basketball program, and we can't wait to get to work with him this summer."
The Bear, Del. native transfers in from Villanova where he spent the previous four seasons. His time with the Wildcats he battled injuries, leading to the 6-9 forward to play in just 34 games and scoring 21 points with 58 rebounds and eight blocks.
Njoku returns home to the 302 where he starred at Sanford School. The 2021 Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year produced an impressive stat line as a senior that included per game averages of 20.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks, while leading Sanford to a 16-2 record and the DIAA State Championship. During his time at Sanford, the Warriors won two DIAA State Championships in 2019 and 2021. The former 247 Sports four-star prospect chose Villanova over notable offers from Marquette, Miami, NC State, Providence, and Temple, among others.
