NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware swimming & diving program has hired Peri Farling as an assistant swim coach, head coach Pablo Marmolejo announced Thursday. She assumes the role beginning Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
"I am very excited to welcome Peri to our Blue Hen family," Marmolejo said. "She will help us to enhance the Blue Hen experience for our student-athletes and future Blue Hens. Her passion for the holistic development of our student-athletes will be invaluable to our program, and her experience will be a great asset to our staff and team."
Farling will join the staff in Newark after serving as the top assistant coach at Division III Dickinson College for the 2024-25 season.
"I'm so excited to join Delaware swimming and diving," Farling said. "It's an honor to be part of such a strong program and have the opportunity to work with such a talented group of student-athletes and staff. I can't wait to get started."
In her lone season with the Red Devils, the men's team finished with an 8-2 record in dual meets, while the women's squad competed to a 7-4 mark. The two teams wrapped up the head-to-head season with five and six consecutive wins, respectively.
As the two units battled for a Centennial Conference Championship, they both finished fourth. Each squad earned their best conference finish since 2020.
One swimmer from both the men's and women's teams at Dickinson earned Centennial Conference Honorable Mentions under the guidance of Farling this past season.
Prior to joining the collegiate coaching profession, Farling was employed by her alma mater, Old Dominion University as a graduate assistant in student academic services. In that role, she served as an academic advisor for the cheer and dance teams.
As a student-athlete at Old Dominion, another team that will be joining the Atlantic Sun Conference alongside Delaware for women's swimming and diving in the 2025-26 season, Farling competed in backstroke and freestyle events.
She also earned a nod to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and the CSCAA Scholar All-American Team while a student-athlete.
During her undergraduate tenure as a Monarch, she was coached by current Blue Hen assistant sprints coach Ross Glegg.
The Virginia native started her coaching career as a swim coach intern with the Mantua Swim Club during college, where she helped oversee junior coaches and planned practices for up to 90 swimmers.
Farling graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in sport management from Old Dominion in 2023 and earned her master's degree in December 2024 in sport management.
