VANCOUVER, BC - Both of the University of Delaware men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team honors for the 2025 spring season, the organization announced Thursday.
To earn the honor, teams must have compiled a 3.00 GPA as a unit, a mark in which both teams achieved, with the men' squad finishing the semester with a 3.29 GPA, while the women's team collectively earned a 3.46 GPA.
Fiftyseven student-athletes, 31 from the women's team and 26 from the men's team, earned over that mark, helping the Hens pick up the awards.
Individually, Delaware also had five student-athletes achieve Scholar All-America status, with one on the first team and four picking up second team nods.
According to the CSCAA, first teamers must achieve a 3.50 GPA, while competing in their respective national championship meet. Second team winners must earn a 3.50 GPA, while having an "B" time standard for the national championship, or have qualified for a zone diving meet.
Graduate student Gavin Currie, junior Matvei Namonokov, and senior Toni Sabev earned the recognition for men's swimming.
To end his career, Sabev became the first Blue Hen to receive this honor in all four of his seasons in the 302, a season after becoming the first in program history to clinch a spot in the NCAA Championships.
This is the third consecutive season that those three men's swimmers have received the honor from the CSCAA.
On the women's side, Mania Tasakou and Kiera Allison captured the recognition, helped by qualifying performances at the CAA Championships in March.
Allison was the lone Blue Hen diver to earn the nod from the organization after placing within the top five at the CAA Championships in the one-meter dive for the second year-in-a-row.
The CSCAA honored 763 teams during spring 2025 from 432 institutions that included 18,459 student-athletes across NCAA Divisions I, II and III; along with the NAIA and NJCAA.
