PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team defeated Temple University 4-0 on the road on Sunday night.

With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens overall record becomes 2-0-0.

"I'm delighted with the boys tonight, a good win and another clean sheet" head coach Tommy McMenemy said. "It was a really mature performance considering we had 5 freshmen in the starting line-up, and a perfectly executed game plan from our point of view. They were extremely direct early on and we dealt very well with that period, which forced them to try and play through. Once they did that, we began to pick off passes through great shape and started to find our rhythm and create dangerous moments in transition. We could have showed a little more composure in front of goal in the first half, and that will come, but our mentality to hunt the ball in the box was excellent and led to our goals. The work rate and reactions of the whole team out of possession was top shelf again; the boys really earned this one!"

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Marius Stenner (2), Mikey Johnson, and Rich Monath scored goals for the Blue Hens in Sunday's win.
This was Stenner's 11^th and 12^th career goals, Johnson's seventh, and Monath's eighth.
Stenner's first half goal was assisted by Freddy Jeffreys, and T.J. Hastings assisted the second. Johnson and Monath's goals were unassisted.
JoJo Elliott Jr. collected his second career start and shutout, while tallying five saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first Blue Hen goal by Stenner came in the 31^st minute of the game, giving UD a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Johnson headed in his goal in the 47^th minute of the match up.
56 minutes into the game Hastings got the ball to Stenner, who scored with his left foot on the left side of the goal.
Monath scored his first goal of the season in the 71^st minute of play to cap off the Hens' 4-0 win.

GAME NOTES

Delaware has won the first away game of the season for the past three years.
