Second Half Goal Leads to Win Over UMBC for Women's Soccer

BALTIMORE - A second half goal from freshman midfielder Lilli Lubic propelled the University of Delaware women's soccer program to a 1-0 victory over UMBC on Sunday.
The Fightin' Blue Hens remain unbeaten and improve their overall record to 5-0-1.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Lubic and Maggie Groh led the Blue Hens in shots with three and shots on goal with two.
- Sophia Hall started in net and collected three saves. It is her third shutout of the season and of her career.
- Hall, Maura Fisher and Gabby Riley played all 90 minutes in Sunday's contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams had multiple chances to score in the first half. UD held a slight 5-3 shots advantage over UMBC.Â
- Lubic's goal came in the 64th minute of the second half. She found the ball through a scrummage of players to and poked it into the back of the net.

GAME NOTES
- The Blue Hens 5-0-1 record is the best start to a regular season since 2006.
- Lubic's goal is her third of the season. She is tied with Groh for the team lead and first among freshman on the Blue Hens roster.Â
- Groh and Lubic earned multi-goal weekends through the first six games of the season. Groh scored three goals over the first two games in the first weekend. Lubic scored in back-to-back games this weekend.Â
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens return home for their first of four straight games at Grant Stadium. They take on Cornell on Thursday, September 4 at 6 p.m.
