Women's Soccer Off to Best Start in Program History After 3-1 Win Over Cornell

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware women's soccer program is off to its best start in its 35-year program history after a 3-1 win over Cornell on Thursday at Grant Stadium.

With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens overall record improves to 6-0-1.Â
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
The Blue Hens return home for their second of four straight games at Grant Stadium. They take on Drexel on Sunday, September 7 at noon.Â
Fans can watch the game on ESPN+.
The Blue Hens will also celebrate senior day and honor Olivia Hoover, Ryan Mundy, Leilah Sallee and Constanze Viehmann.Â

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Taisiya Reid, Gabby Riley and Adiat Olaogun-Dickson scored in the Blue Hens win. Olaogun-Dickson's goal was assisted by Lilli Lubic.
- Maggie Groh led the Blue Hens offense with four shots.
- Sophia Hall started in net and collected a career-high six saves.Â
- Hall, Ava Sallee and Calista Collins played all 90 minutes.
- Reid gave the Blue Hens a 1-0 lead with a goal in the ninth minute. Lubic had a shot right in front of the goalkeeper, which was saved. The ball ricocheted to Reid, and shot it to the back of the net.
- After a Big Red penalty inside the goalkeeper's box in the 15th minute, Riley had a penalty kick opportunity and scored.
- The Big Red cut the lead to 2-1 after a goal in the 38th minute.
- Olaogun-Dickson iced the game in the 62nd minute. She received a pass from Lubic, out-sprinted the entire Big Red defense, and kicked the ball past the diving goalkeeper.
- The previous best start to the season was when they started 5-0 in 1994, and 5-0-1 in 2006.
- Reid and Olagun-Dickson scored their third goals of the season. The two are tied with the team lead, along with Groh and Lubic.
- Riley's goal was the first in her Blue Hens career.
- Hall has started in all seven of the Blue Hens games and has played in every minute.
