Football Position Previews: Offensive Line
8/5/2025 3:53:00 PM | Football
NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team is preparing for its first year at the FBS level, a historic season that kicks off at home against Delaware State on Thursday, August 28 at 7 p.m. Throughout fall camp, positional previews will be posted online to spotlight the different units that make up the 2025 Fightin' Blue Hens.
OFFENSIVE LINE
Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach Chris Rogers spearheads the unit in his fourth season with the Blue Hens.
"Offensive line is an interchangeable position," Rogers said. "In our opinion, blocking is blocking, so there isn't a specific spot where we're really weak or we're really strong because they've been playing all over the place. We challenge them all camp long to play more than one position. If you want to play football at the highest level, you're not just a right tackle or just a left guard. You have to play guard and tackle or guard and center. You have to play more than one thing, right side and left side. So we teach that way. And that's something that has led to success for us in the past."
The offensive line room has the task of replacing three key pieces from a season ago (Bradly Anyanwu, Brock Gingrich, and Blaise Sparks), while returning starters Anwar O'neal and Patrick Shupp. O'neal was an All-CAA Honorable Mention last season, starting all 11 games, while Shupp has the longest starting streak on the team at 24-consecutive games.
In addition to O'neal and Shupp, returners Fintan Brose, Steven Demboski, and Cole Snyder are expected to play a significant role for UD in 2025. Brose has played in 43 career games at Delaware with Snyder (18) and Demboski (16) each bringing experience to the table, with the latter filling in for an injured Gingrich in the starting lineup last season. This preseason, Brose was named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000, as well as All-CUSA Third Team by Athlon Sports, and to Conference USA's Watch List.
Other returners include Tyler Burnham, Anthony Caccese, Thomas Chernasky, Wahkeem Roman, Jaime Rosario, and Carter Sareyka.
Joining the unit this season are transfers Patrick Methlie (West Chester) and Noah Rosahac (Syracuse) as well as freshmen Bentley Allen II (Bowie, Md. / DeMatha Catholic), Dylan Stewart (Burlington, Ky. / Conner), and Chandler Telfaire (Garner, N.C. / Enloe Magnet).
