Football Heads to Miami for First Conference USA Game Against FIU

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team will travel to Miami for their first-ever Conference USA matchup against the FIU Panthers on Saturday, September 20 at 6 p.m. at Pitbull Stadium.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware enters the contest 2-1, coming off a 44-41 overtime victory over UConn.
- QB Nick Minicucci went 23-of-34 for 265 yards and a touchdown in the air against the Huskies. He also added a career-high three rushing touchdowns. Minicucci leads the team with 847 yards and five touchdown passes, while rushing for a team-best four touchdowns.
- RB Jo Silver, a preseason Doak Walker Award Candidate, ran the ball 15 times for a career-high 179 yards and two touchdowns last week, recording his first-career 100-yard and game. This was highlighted by Delaware's longest play from scrimmage on the day, a 70-yard rush to the endzone. He leads UD's rushing attack with 260 yards on the season to go with two rushing touchdowns.
- WR Kyre Duplessis tallied his first-career 100-yard receiving outing against the Huskies, reeling in nine catches for 161 yards. He also registered the longest reception of his career at 68 yards. Duplessis leads Conference USA with 263 receiving yards and ranks 28th in the country.
- On defense, S KT Seay and LB Dillon Trainer lead the Hens in tackles with 24 apiece. Seay is coming off a career-best 13-tackle performance against UConn.
- Delaware is second in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 28.7 points per game. UD trails only WKU, who is putting up 39.0 points per contest.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
- FIU is led by first-year head coach Willie Simmons. Simmons was previously the head coach of Florida A&M from 2018-23, tallying a 67-25 overall record between the two stops.
- The Panthers enter the contest 2-1, coming off a 38-28 win over Florida Atlantic.
- FIU's offense is led by QB Keyone Jenkins, who has 498 yards passing and one touchdown on the season. Jenkins was picked as Conference USA's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
- RB Kejon Owens is the league's reigning Offensive Player of the Week, ranks second in CUSA with 322 rushing yards to go with four touchdowns.
- On defense, linebackers Johnny Chaney Jr. and Josiah Taylor each have 23 tackles on the campaign.
