Field Hockey Defeats Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - University of Delaware field hockey defeated the Lock Haven Bald Eagles by a score of 4-0.
The Fightin' Blue Hens improve to 3-4, while the Bald Eagles fall to 0-8.

The Blue Hens stay in Pennsylvania to take on Saint Joseph's University on Wednesday, September 24, at 4 p.m.

HEN HIGHLIGHTSÂ
- Lily Cosner netted her first career goal.
- Alexa Michielsen tied her career-high of four points, set last season as a member of Shippensburg.
- Kristi Merashoff registered her first shutout and victory in the blue and gold.
- In the ninth minute, Cosner received a cross from Michielsen, putting it in the back of the cage for the first time in her collegiate career.
- Both squads went scoreless for the next 41 minutes, until Livia van't Hek struck from distance, off of a pass from Katie Clarke
- Just eight seconds later, Michielsen intercepted a pass, dishing it off to a diving Noelle Sabbagh for her first goal of the season.
- Two minutes after, the opposite took place, with Sabbagh crossing it in front of the cage with only a defender in the way. Michielsen converted in the bottom right corner, sealing the win for Delaware.
- Merashoff stopped three shots in the shutout victory.
- Merashoff earned her second career shutout, with her previous clean sheet coming against Stanford (Sept. 8, 2024).
- Delaware earned their first win over Lock Haven in NCAA action, with their last victory taking place in 1980 while members of the AIAW.
- Both goalkeepers who have suited up for the Blue Hens in 2025 have each recorded a shutout in their first victories of the season.
