Volleyball Earns First Win in Straight-Set Victory Over Hampton

NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware volleyball defeated Hampton in straight sets (25-11, 25-12, 25-19) on Sept. 6 for its first victory of 2025. The win also improved UD's all-time record against Hampton to a perfect 5-0, with the Blue Hens going undefeated in sets across all five matches.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Anna Logan Gillens posted a match-high 13 kills, hitting .333 with six digs.
Jayda Redd tallied 12 kills, hit .417, and added six aces, four blocks, and six digs.
Dylan Norris registered eight kills on a .438 hitting percentage.
Kennedi Inman recorded 35 assists, four blocks, two aces, and four kills.
Asia Murray contributed six blocks and three kills.
Cadence Nguyen finished with nine digs and two aces.
Kristyn Membreno and Taylor Holly had two aces as well. Membreno picked up six digs and Holly had three.
India Gantt totaled five blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET

Delaware scored four straight points to take an 8-5 lead, then used a 9-0 run to extend the margin to 18-8. The run featured two kills each from Gillens and Norris, one from Gantt, and two aces by Inman.
The Blue Hens closed the set with five straight points, including two kills from Redd in the final stretch.
Gillens had six kills in the first set and Inman had 13 assists. Delaware hit .542 as a team and held Hampton to a .080 hitting percentage.

SET TWO

UD rattled off six straight points to take a 12-6 lead midway through the second set.
A 7-0 run put Delaware ahead 24-11 before a kill from Inman put UD up 2-0. Redd had four-consecutive aces during the run.
Gillens had four more kills in the second set and Inman had nine assists. UD never trailed in the second set.

SET THREE

The third set was the closest of the match with seven ties and three lead changes. Hampton took its largest lead early at 6-2 before Delaware battled back to take an 8-7 lead.
With Hampton up 14-13, UD ripped off six-straight points to go up by five. Gillens and Gantt both had kills and Nguyen had an ace for the final three points of the set to finish off the match.
Redd had five kills in the final set and Inman had 13 assists.

MATCH NOTES

Redd's 12 kills and six aces were a career-high.
Inman's four kills were a career-high.
Gantt's five total blocks were a career-high.
Membreno recorded the first two aces of her career and her six digs were a career-high.
Gillens' 13 kills were a season-best.
Murray had her second game this season with at least six total blocks, also done in the season-opener against UMBC when she had eight.
Delaware improves to 5-0 all-time against Hampton and 15-0 in sets.

Delaware will wrap up the Blue Hen invitational tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. against Le Moyne.
