Men’s Golf Opens Season with Top-Five Showing at Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team opened the 2025-26 season with a strong showing at the Bryan National Collegiate, hosted by UNCG. The Blue Hens carded a three-round score of 12-over par 876 to finish fourth in the 14-team field. The tournament was played at the par-72, 7,276-yard Bryan Park Golf Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware totaled 48 birdies and three eagles over the 54-hole tournament. The Blue Hens had 16 birdies on Saturday while shooting even par as a team, and 18 birdies in Sunday's final round.
- Areephun carded rounds of 5-under par to bookend his tournament to finish tied for fifth in the individual standing. He had 14 birdies and an eagle over the 54 holes, including eight birdies in the first round and a bogey-free, five-birdie round on Sunday.
- Making just his second collegiate start, Xin recorded rounds of even-par in the first and third rounds, respectively, of the tournament. He finished with eight total birdies and an eagle.
- Vuradi had an impressive Delaware debut, carding a 1-under par with two birdies and an eagle in the first round. He finished with seven total birdies while placing among the top 20.
- Wu made his collegiate debut as an individual and had three birdies while finishing at 10-over par.
- Jeffrey Homer (7) and Matthew Homer (9) totaled 16 birdies between the two of them, including Matthew's five birdies in the second round.
OF NOTE
- Saturday was shortened to 18 holes because of rain. The teams finished the three-round tournament with 36 holes on Sunday.
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will return to action next week when it hosts the Blue Hen Intercollegiate at White Clay Creek Country Club in Wilmington, Del. The 12-team tournament will play 36 holes on Monday, September 15, and wrap up with 18 holes on Tuesday, September 16.
