Women’s Swimming & Diving’s Novinskiy and Pastris Earn ASUN Women’s Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - University of Delaware women's swimming & diving seniors Victoria Novinskiy and Alex Pastris earned Atlantic Sun Women's Swimmer and Women's Diver of the Week, respectively, for the week of January 20, the conference announced Tuesday.
The pair combined for 40 of Delaware's 244 total points in the 188-point victory over George Mason on Saturday, January 17. The meet was both student-athletes' final home event at Delaware.
Novinskiy finished first in all four events she competed in during her final home dual meet of her career. The New Hampshire native also acquired 27 of Delaware's 244 points on the day. The senior started off her day in the 200-medley relay, helping the squad set a pool record at 1:41.11, swimming the butterfly portion of the event at 23.88. Novinskiy took the victory in her first solo event of the day with ease, winning the 200-fly at 1:57.06, finishing 6.84 in front of the rest of the field, and 17.73 ahead of any opposing swimmer. She returned to the pool in the 100-fly, setting the pool record at 52.54, finishing 2.41 ahead of the next swimmer and 6.03 ahead of any George Mason participant. In the 200-IM, the senior's final race of the day, she finished in first, at 1:59.57, 4.69 ahead of the field and 11.54 ahead of any Patriots.
Alex Pastris won the 1-meter dive event and placed second in the 3-meter dive event in Delaware's defeat over George Mason in her final-career home dual meet. Pastris scored 282.45 in the 1-meter dive, finishing 23.70 points ahead of the next highest scorer, and 63.15 points ahead of the closest opposing diver. In the 3-meter dive, Pastris scored a 260.85, placing second in the event by less than one point.

The Blue Hens' next meet is the ASUN Championships, in Orlando, Fla., from February 18-21. This will be the squad's first time competing in the championship for its new league.
