Women’s Basketball Knocks Off Middle Tennessee, 61-48, Snaps Blue Raiders’ 39-Game Home-CUSA Winning Streak

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team defeated Middle Tennessee, 61-48, at the Murphy Center on Thursday. The Fightin' Blue Hens improve to 8-10, 2-4 CUSA, while the Blue Raiders drop to 10-9, 5-2 CUSA. UD snapped the Blue Raiders' streak of 39-consecutive Conference USA home wins dating back to March 4, 2021.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware shot 50.0-percent from the floor and 45.5-percent from three in the first half.
- UD held Middle Tennessee to two points in the third quarter, the fewest points given up in a frame this season and tied for the least allowed by the Hens since the 2015-16 season.
- The Blue Hens led by 29 points in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, the largest advantage this season.
- Ande'a Cherisier scored 18 points, including reaching double-figures in just the first seven minutes of the contest. She added 13 rebounds for her team-leading fifth double-double this season
- Ella Wanzer added four triples to reach 12 points, her ninth game this season hitting multiple threes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cherisier scored the first-four buckets of the game for Delaware, helping the Hens to jump out to an 8-2 lead by the first quarter media timeout. UD closed the period on a 7-0 run to jump out to a 20-11 lead after the first frame.
- The Blue Raiders started the second stanza off with a 7-2 run, but were quickly thwarted by Wanzer and Trinity Vance hitting three-consecutive threes to take an 11-point lead at the media timeout. Delaware held Middle Tennessee without a field goal for the final 4:45 of the half, holding a 35-23 lead into the locker room at the break.
- The Blue Hens opened the third quarter on a 12-1 run, extending their lead to 23 by the time the frame reached a media stoppage. Delaware outpaced the Blue Raiders 16-2 in the period as the lead grew to 26 heading into the fourth.
- Delaware's lead grew to 29 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, the largest advantage this season. The Blue Raiders went on an 11-0 run, causing a UD timeout with the Hens leading 54-36. MTSU used an 8-0 run in 1:33 to cut the Delaware lead to 12 with 3:29 remaining in regulation. The Hens halted the Blue Raiders' attack hanging on for a double-digit point victory.
GAME NOTES
- The Blue Hens advanced to 40-7 when leading after three quarters under Jenkins.
