Women’s Basketball Defeats WKU, 65-55 for Third-Straight Victory

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team won its third-consecutive contest, defeating WKU, 66-55, at the E.A. Diddle Arena on Friday. The Fightin' Blue Hens jump to 9-10, 3-4 CUSA, while the Lady Toppers fall to 5-14, 1-7 CUSA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware shot 51.9-percent from the floor and 53.8-percent from beyond the arc in the opening half. For the game, the Blue & Gold scored at a 48.2-percent clip and 43.5-percent from three.
- UD tied its season-high with 10 three-point field goals made in the contest. This was the fourth time this season that the Hens shot above 40.0-percent from three.
- Trinity Vance scored 20 points on 7-of-11 from the floor and a career-best six threes made in seven attempts. It is the sophomore's second-career 20+ point game and her six threes are tied for the fourth-most in a game in program history. Vance shot 85.7-percent from distance becoming the first Blue Hen this year to shoot better than 75-percent from beyond the arc with at least five attempts.
- Ande'a Cherisier recorded 17 points, going 8-for-11 from the floor to go with eight rebounds.
- Lay Fantroy corralled a game-best 12 rebounds, her sixth time this season reaching double-digits off the glass.
- Kailah Correa added 10 points, four assists, and three rebounds in a team-high 30 minutes of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware started hot out of the gate with Correa and Vance combining for 10 of the game's first 13 points. Vance made her first-five shots all from three-point land, giving her 15 points in the first frame, outscoring WKU by herself, and leading the Hens to a 24-11 advantage after one.
- The Lady Toppers outpaced the Blue Hens 7-5 in the second quarter heading into the media break but Delaware led 29-18. UD held WKU scoreless for the final 3:12 of the stanza, going to the locker room with a 15-point lead at 37-22.
- With 3:49 left in the third quarter, the Blue & Gold led 43-28 after trading buckets to start the frame. Delaware's lead grew as high as 20 in the period as the Hens led 52-32 late in the stanza. A quick 7-0 run for the Lady Toppers to end the frame left a 13-point UD lead heading into the fourth.
- WKU cut its deficit to single digits by the time the game reached a media stoppage in the fourth as UD led 52-44 with 5:55 left in regulation. UD used a 14-2 stretch in 3:36 to extend its lead to 66-48 with 1:56 left in the frame, halting the WKU comeback attempt.
GAME NOTES
- Delaware moved to 41-7 when leading after three quarters under Sarah Jenkins.
- The Hens are now 28-7 when keeping opponents under 60 points under Jenkins.
- UD advanced to 43-18 when outshooting the opposition under Jenkins.
