Men's Tennis Sweeps Villanova 7-0; Perrone Records First-Career Win

NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware men's tennis swept Villanova in its home opener by a score of 7-0 at Elkton Indoor Tennis Friday. Interim head coach Nathan Perrone earned his first-career win in the contest.
The Fightin' Blue Hens improve to 1-0, while the Wildcats drop to 0-1. This was UD's seventh-straight win over Villanova.

"It feels great to be back in the competitive nature facing some tough times and matches," interim head coach Nathan Perrone said. "That was a good battle against Villanova today. We had to get digging on every court. Excited to build off this and for our road trip up to play Bucknell on Sunday. Let's go"

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware started the day with both of its nationally-ranked duos in Tobey Lock/Euan Mackenzie and Federico Garbero/Itamar Tapiro taking down pairs of 'Cats.
- UD swept singles play, including an exciting match between Mackenzie and Villanova's Thomas Wakefield going to a third set pro-set, where the senior emerged victorious 10-7.
- Tapiro closed the match out winning both sets without dropping a game.
