Fantroy Notches 10th-Career Double-Double as Women’s Basketball Comes Back to Defeat FIU, 51-48

NEWARK, Del. – Lay Fantroy notched her 10th-career double-double as the University of Delaware women's basketball team defeated FIU, 51-48, inside the Bob Carpenter Center on Sunday. The Fightin' Blue Hens have now won four of their last five games to improve to 10-11, 4-5 CUSA, while the Panthers drop to 12-8, 5-4 CUSA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware won despite only leading for 6:40 of the 40-minute bout.
- UD held FIU to 48 points, the first time the Hens have held their opponent to under 50 points. It was also a season-low in points for the Panthers.
- Ella Wanzer scored a game-high 13 points. It was her fifth time in double figures for the campaign.
- Fantroy tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- Safi Kolliegbo had 11 points in the contest, including seven in the fourth quarter. Her seven points outpaced the Panther offense (6) in the final frame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wanzer scored the first five points for the Hens, countering the four points for the Panthers that included a 3:38 scoreless drought for the visitors midway through the first frame. A 10-0 stretch for FIU gave it an 14-5 advantage with 2:44 remaining in the first frame. Kolliegbo stopped the bleeding for the Hens, nailing a three to halt the run. FIU finished the quarter on a 14-3 stretch, giving the visitors an 18-8 lead after one.
- At the second quarter media timeout, the team from the 305 held a 25-14 lead. The two teams traded 13 points in the quarter, leaving a 31-21 advantage for FIU at the break.
- A 7-0 run for the Blue & Gold in just over a minute brought the Hens to within five at the third quarter media stoppage. Delaware made five of its last seven field goals, capped off by a Fantroy three to cut it to a three-point deficit heading into the fourth. The Hens outscored the Panthers 42-39 in the third quarter.
- Vance nailed a three with 4:47 left in the fourth to give Delaware its first lead since 7:29 of the first quarter at 47-46. After a made free throw by FIU to even the game at 47, UD scored four-straight points to take a 51-47 lead with 3:07 left. Delaware held FIU without a made-field goal for the final 5:53 of the contest to hold on. Kolliegbo outscored the Panthers 7-6 in the final frame.
GAME NOTES
- Sarah Jenkins earned her 50th-career victory on Sunday.
- Ande'a Cherisier notched a career-high six assists in the contest.
- This is the second-CUSA home contest of the season where Delaware has come back to win after trailing at the half (1/17 vs. Liberty).
- UD improves to 29-7 when holding opponents to under 60 points in the Jenkins era.
- The Blue Hens move to 44-18 when outshooting the opposition under Jenkins.
