PHILADELPHIA – The University of Delaware upended No. 45 Penn Friday, 4-3, for the highest ranked win in program history. Senior Amelia Gorman clinched the match for the Fightin' Blue Hens with a victory at No. 3 singles.
UD advances to 5-2 on the season, while the Quakers slip to 5-4. This is the second dual win in program history over Penn and first since 1976. UD moves to 2-9 in the all-time record.
ON THE RECORD
"That was a massive win for our program today," Director of Tennis/Head Women's Tennis Coach Pablo Montana said. "To go into their house and defeat the No. 45 team in the country speaks volumes about the character, belief, and resilience this group is showing right now. I could not be prouder of the courage and confidence I witnessed from every single one of our players. We will carry this belief, confidence, and momentum with us as we prepare for Navy on Sunday."
