Women’s Basketball Defeated by Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team was defeated by Missouri State, 83-57, inside Great Southern Bank Arena on Saturday. The Fightin' Blue Hens fall to 12-15, 6-9 CUSA, while the Lady Bears rise to 16-11, 8-6 CUSA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware shot a blistering 18-for-20 from the line (90-percent).
- Lay Fantroy scored a team-best 18 points, her fourth time in double figures in the last five games. The junior added four rebounds and three steals in a team-high 36 minutes of action.
- Jiya Perry neared a season high with eight points and tied her season best with five boards to lead the team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- At the game's first media timeout, MSU held a 10-7 lead. A three from Perry gave UD a 19-17 advantage late in the first frame. Despite 10 points from Fantroy in the opening frame, Delaware trailed 22-21 after one.
- Missouri State outpaced the Hens 15-7 through the first six minutes of the second quarter to increase its lead to nine. A banked-in three by Perry and a fast-break layup by Fantroy brought UD to within six at the break, trailing 39-33.
- A quick 4-0 run for Missouri State to open the third quarter led to a Delaware timeout with the Hens down by 10. With 4:29 remaining in the third quarter, MSU held a 50-37 advantage while holding the Blue Hens scoreless for 2:04 heading into the media stoppage. The Lady Bears used an 8-0 stretch over 4:04 to take a 17-point lead with 1:55 remaining in the period. After three, the Hens trailed 63-41.
- The lead for the Lady Bears reached as high as 28 in the final frame as the home team took the contest.
GAME NOTES
- Amiya Carroll made her Delaware debut, playing 10 minutes off the bench with two rebounds.
