Sixth Inning Rally Helps Baseball to 5-4 Win Over Rider

NEWARK, Del. -Â A sixth inning rally propelled the University of Delaware baseball program to a 5-4 win over Rider on Sunday at Bob Hannah Stadium.
The Fightin' Blue Hens earned a series sweep over the Broncs and improved their record to 5-7 overall. UD has also won four straight games.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Vincent Davis and LT Cockrill both had multi-hit games. Davis went 2-for-5 including a double and three RBIs. Cockrill went 2-for-3, drove in a run and drew a walk.
- Ryan McLaughlin started the game and pitched three scoreless innings for the second straight time. He struck out five batters in the process.
- Ben Moyzan was credited with the win and is now 1-0.
- Andrew Callaway pitched the final three innings and earned his first save of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a pitching dual through the first five innings. The Blue Hens lone run came off an Evan Bouldin sacrifice fly, and scored Sal Mineo.
- Sam Winsett got the sixth inning rally started after he reached on an error by the shortstop. Matthew Minckler got on base off a single, and Mineo  was intentionally walked to load the bases. Davis cleared the bases with a double. Two batters later, Cockrill drove in Davis to make it a 5-1 lead.
- The Broncs put up a three run seventh inning to make the game 5-4.
- In the top of the ninth, the Broncs had runners on first and third with two outs. Callaway got the batter to ground on to secure the win for the Blue Hens.
UP NEXT
Delaware welcomes Maryland to Bob Hannah Stadium on Tuesday, March 3 at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
