PHILADELPHIA - The University of Delaware baseball program picked up its first road win of the season over Penn by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday.

The Fightin' Blue Hens overall record improves to 8-9 on the season.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Sal Mineo led the Blue Hens offense, going 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI. He extended his hit streak to 12 games.
LT Cockrill reached base three times, all three were walks.
UD had six pitcher appearances in Tuesday's win. Doug Marose started the game, followed by Ethan Shaub, Ryan McLaughlin, Andrew Callaway and Jackson Hulcher. The six combined to strikeout seven batters, allowed five hits and three earned runs. Marose picked up the win and is now 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

UD took an early lead when Jeremy Wolf was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and scored Mineo in the first inning. The following inning, Mineo had an RBI single up the middle and scored Anthony DeCesare. In the bottom half of the second, Penn cut the Blue Hen lead down to 2-1.
In the fifth inning, Anthony Charles had an RBI single, and scored Wolf. Charles also scored on a wild pitch later that inning.
Vincent Davis reached after the Penn shortstop dropped a fly ball with the bases loaded. Mineo scored on the play to make it 5-1 in the sixth inning.
In the bottom half of the sixth, the Quakers cut the Blue Hen lead to 5-3 after they drove in a run on a fielders choice and sacrifice fly.
The Blue Hens pitchers had three-straight scoreless innings on the mound to close out the game.

UP NEXT
