Women’s Tennis Defeats Delaware State 7-0, Earns Eighth-Consecutive Win

NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware women's tennis swept Delaware State for its eighth-straight victory by a score of 7-0 in its first match of the year on the DFH Outdoor Courts on Thursday.
This was the 15th-straight home win for the Fightin' Blue Hens. UD improves to 11-2, while the Hornets dip to 1-5.
ON THE RECORD
"It was great to get outside today and come away with a win as we prepare to head south for a couple of conference matches," head coach Pablo Montana said. "Our doubles continue to be a strength and give us an important edge going into singles. We're playing with confidence and consistency right now, and I'm excited to see how we compete this weekend in CUSA play."

- UD clinched the doubles point for the 13th-consecutive match, with their first two duos winning 6-0.
- All three doubles pairs for Delaware have won at least five-straight matches, with Maryia Hrynashka/Paulina Jurkowska taking five straight, Amelia Gorman/Navya Vadlamudi winning eight in a row, and Katie Dollens/Lara Russiniello having emerged victorious in their last seven matches.
- Gorman continued her torrid singles play, winning her 11th-straight match, including going the second set without losing a game.
- Hanna Vinahradava made her return to singles play, winning 6-4, 6-0, to bring her season record to 16-2.
- Hrynashka clinched the match for Delaware, with the three finishing behind her sealing the Blue & Gold's third-consecutive sweep.
