Rowing Finishes First Day at Knecht Cup

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – University of Delaware rowing finished in the top three of five-of-six preliminary races it competed in on the first day at the Knecht Cup on Saturday.

The team celebrated senior day and alumnae weekend after the first day of competition.

Seventeen seniors were honored by the Fightin' Blue Hens, including Lydia Attanasio, Kiah Beachler, Shannon Dolt, Marytheresa Fitzpatrick, Meaghan Leahy, Amina Mai, Adriana Mazzella, Julia Moller, Ava Moretti, Abby Moy, Kerry Mullins, Amari Randall, Drew Shiley, Emma Szydlow, Rachel Tartal, Ava Tine, and Grace Visser.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Delaware took to the course first in the freshman/novice 4+, taking a second-place finish at 8:37.36.
In the 2V4+, the Blue & Gold competed against MAC opponent UMass, where they took third at 8:08.39.
In the V4+, the squad took on four other crews, including Eastern Michigan, finishing third at 8:02.95.
In the 3V8+, the boat took fourth at 7:31.03.
The 2V8+ had a second place finish, at 6:55.79, ahead of teams such as UConn and West Virginia.
In the V8+, Delaware placed third at 6:49.67, finishing in front of MAC foe EMU.
