NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware men's basketball program signed transfer Steven Solano to the 2026-27 roster, head coach Martin Ingelsby announced Tuesday. Solano will join the Fightin' Blue Hens after spending the last two seasons at Saint Joseph's.
"We are excited to welcome Steven to our Blue Hen basketball family," Ingelsby said. "He will provide an interior presence on both sides of the ball and is a perfect fit in our system and our league. Welcome to Newark, Steven!"
The 7-0 center appeared in 14 games and averaged 5.9 minutes, 2.43 points, and 2 rebounds per game over his two seasons with the Hawks. Solano will be the first seven footer to play for Delaware since Matt Hewson in 2006-07.
Prior to attending Saint Joseph's, Solano was a 2024 McDonald's All-American nominee and was rated a four-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals.com coming out of La Lumiere School (Ind.). He competed with both the Expressions Elite AAU team and the Dominican Republic at the FIBA U17 World Cup and FIBA U16 Americas Championship. Solano was ranked fifth in rebounding (7.0 rpg) and 13th in blocked shots (1.1) in the EYBL Scholastic League.
