DURHAM, N.C. – University of Delaware men's lacrosse's Jason Kolar has been named a recipient of the Liam Gleason Humanitarian Award, the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) announced Wednesday.
The Liam Gleason Humanitarian Award, established in January 2026 in memory of the late Siena men's lacrosse coach, honored its inaugural group of recipients exemplifying leadership, unwavering support for teammates and staff, outstanding sportsmanship, and meaningful community involvement. Each NCAA Division I men's lacrosse program selected a student athlete from their team to receive the Liam Gleason Humanitarian Award at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Voted on by players, coaches, and staff, this honor is awarded to the individual on the roster whose teammates most aspire to emulate.
Kolar, a two-year captain, has been a stalwart in the midfield for the Fightin' Blue Hens over the last five seasons. The Mount Airy, Md. native appeared in 58 games with 45 starts in his collegiate career, recording 54 goals, 27 assists, and 81 points.
Off the field, Kolar makes a difference in his community. Back in his hometown of Mount Airy, Kolar hosted a youth lacrosse clinic to help teach lacrosse to the next generation of athletes. In high school, he was the recipient of a 2021 USA Lacrosse Bob Scott Award, an award that recognizes one player from each area who goes 'above and beyond' in service to his team, school, and community. Kolar also volunteers with 896 Lacrosse Training, a local clinic run by a pair of former Delaware men's lacrosse players, Kevin Ellington and Drew Lenkaitis, to teach lacrosse to kids in the Delaware and Pennsylvania area.
