NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware Interim Head Men's Tennis Coach Nathan Perrone has been elevated to the full-time role, Director of Athletics & Campus Recreation Jordan Skolnick announced Wednesday.
I'm excited to remove the interim tag for Nathan, Skolnick said. He's worked hard this past season in the interim role and helped establish a great first season in Conference USA for us to build upon. Nathan cares deeply about the student-athlete experience and I am looking forward to his continued success.
A Moorestown, N.J. native, Perrone led the Fightin' Blue Hens in an interim role during the 2025-26 season after serving as an assistant coach for three seasons. During his interim season, he led the program to a 14-10 record, highlighted by an appearance in the CUSA Semifinals and guided Tobey Lock and Euan Mackenzie to the NCAA Doubles Tournament as the first-ever duo to make the national bracket.
I am very honored to be named the head coach of the men's tennis program, Perrone said. Serving as interim head coach over the past year has been a great experience, and I look forward to continuing to build a culture of growth, hard work, and success. I'm excited for our student-athletes and believe in this program and what we can accomplish together. I would like to give a special thank you to Pablo Montana, Jordan Skolnick, Ed LeFurge III, and everyone else who made this possible. Thank you and let's go hens!
Under the guidance of Perrone in his two roles over four seasons, the Blue Hens have played to a 60-32 record in dual matches, including 32-2 at home with 16-straight home victories. The 14 wins collected in 2025-26 are the second most by a first-year head coach in Newark.
I am extremely happy for Nathan and this well-earned opportunity, Director of Tennis/Head Women's Tennis Coach Pablo Montana said. From the day he was hired as our assistant coach four years ago, I believed he had the qualities to become a successful head coach. He is a tireless worker, an outstanding recruiter, and someone who genuinely cares about the growth and well-being of our student-athletes. Nathan has played a significant role in the success of our program, and I am excited to watch him in this next chapter with Delaware men's tennis.
Perrone has coached 13 all-conference selections, one rookie of the year, and the NCAA-qualifying doubles team. During his second season with the program in 2023-24, he assisted Delaware to its highest ITA team ranking in program history at No. 32, as the team picked up a program best 13-straight wins to start the season.
Prior to coming to Newark, Perrone was an assistant coach at Drexel during the fall of 2022, where Alan Jesudason competed in the ITA All-American tournament, reaching the round of 64.
Perrone completed his bachelor's degree in business administration at Saint Joseph's University in 2021. He was one of the most decorated men's tennis players in program history for the Hawks, ranking third in singles wins upon matriculation.
He broke the Hawks' single-season wins record with 27 in 2022 and was named the Atlantic 10's Men's Tennis Player of the Year. Perrone earned the Class of 1950 Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2021, an award given to the top graduating student-athletes and was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Conference First Team for three-consecutive years.
