Women’s Golf Releases Fall Schedule

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's golf team has set its fall schedule for the upcoming 2026-27 season, Director of Golf Patty Post announced on Friday. The Fightin' Blue Hens will play in five tournaments over September and October, including hosting the annual Lady Blue Hen Invitational.

Delaware will open its campaign September 7-8 at the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State. It is the third-straight season the Hens have made the trip to Happy Valley, finishing fifth in 2024 and second in 2025. Last season, UD was the only team under par in the final round, rising to finish runner-up. Mary Grace Dunigan placed sixth with a 1-over par.
For the fifth-consecutive year, the Blue Hens will travel to Wisconsin for the Badger Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be held September 13-15. Delaware has finished in the top-three in each of its past three trips to The Badger State, including a team title in 2024 and a runner-up finish in 2025. Dunigan tied for third last fall with a 7-under par which is tied for the third-best 54-hole score in program history. Rhianna Gooneratne also recorded her first-career top-10 finish.
The squad will return out to the Great Lakes region the following week, September 20-21, for the Mary Fossum Invitational, hosted by Michigan State. The Blue Hens made the trip to East Lansing in 2024, finishing 11th in a challenging 15-team filed that including eight power-four programs.
October will open with trip out to the Midwest, as the Blue Hens will make their third-straight appearance at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, hosted by Kansas. The tournament will be played October 5-6. Last fall, UD placed eighth while Gooneratne had another top-10 performance.
Delaware will close out its fall schedule with the annual Lady Blue Hen Invitational, October 24-25 at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. The Hens have won their home tournament each of the past two years, including an eight-stroke victory last season. Gooneratne claimed runner-up honors with a 1-over par and Kate Roberts has had a top-10 finish.
Delaware enjoyed a successful 2025-26 season, the program's first as a member of Conference USA, with a second-place finish at the CUSA Championship. UD won two team tournament titles, defending its title at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational and winning The Nashville Invitational, while recording three team runner-up and seven total top-five finishes. Both Dunigan and Gooneratne were selected to the All-CUSA Third Team following the season, and six Blue Hens earned WGCA All-American Scholar nods.
