Men’s Lacrosse Alum John Grant Jr. Named to Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026

NEW WESTMINSTER, BC – University of Delaware men's lacrosse alumnus John Grant Jr. '00 has been named to the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame's Class of 2026, the organization announced Sunday.
For Grant Jr., this will be his second hall of fame laurel he has earned during this calendar year, as he was named to the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame in June.
A dominating offensive player with a combination of strength, speed, and a blazing shot, he recorded 81 goals and 96 assists for 177 points in just 32 career games for the Blue Hens under coach Bob Shillinglaw.
A native of Ontario, Canada, John was a two-time USILA All-American, earning first team laurels as a senior in 1999 when he led all NCAA Division I players with 110 points and was named the winner of the prestigious Enner Award as the USILA National Player of the Year.
He led Delaware to one of its best seasons in school history in 1999 when the Fightin' Blue Hens went 14-3 and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
Grant graduated from Delaware in 2000 with a degree in physical education studies.
He then embarked on a 17-year professional career in the National Lacrosse League, finishing second in league history with 668 goals and third in points with 1,446. He was twice named MVP of the league (2007, 2012). Grant Jr. also played 19 seasons in Major League Lacrosse and the Premier Lacrosse League, earning two more MVP honors (2007, 2008) and winning five championships.
As an international player, he led Team Canada to three world indoor championships (2003, 2007, 2011) and played on four Team Canada field squads, earning All-World honors three times (2002, 2006, 2010), and a gold medal in 2006. Grant Jr. was inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame in 2021 and was a member of the inaugural class of the Pro Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2022.
The 2026 inductees are Glenn Clark, Grant Hamilton, Karolyn Karpun, Bruce Murray, Michael John Howard, Jim Weller, Steve Manning, Walt Christianson, Bob McMahon, and Ray Durante as individuals, while the Team Canada Women's Sixes 2022 squad was selected for induction.
The banquet and ceremonies are scheduled for October 24th at the Anvil Centre in New Westminster, British Columbia.
