Volleyballs Earns First Win of Season in Straight-Set Victory Over Marist

EASTON, Pa. - University of Delaware volleyball defeated Marist in three sets (25-20, 25-21, 27-25) in its second of two matches to begin the 2026 season to earn its first win of the season. Earlier, UD was defeated by Montana State in five sets.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS VS. MARIST

Anna Logan Gillens tallied a match-best 14 kills and had two blocks.
Thalia Yancey had 11 kills and match-highs in digs with 16 and aces with four.
Kennedi Inman had 30 assists.
Morgan Campbell had seven kills and hit .667 with two aces.
Asia Murray had six kills and three blocks.
Jayda Gray had three aces.
Jayda Redd had nine digs.
Taylor Holly had five digs.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS VS. MONTANA STATE

Gillens had a match-best 19 kills and hit .324 with two blocks.
Yancey had 15 kills and nine digs.
Inman recorded 54 assists.
Murray hit .346 with 11 kills.
Campbell recorded seven kills and hit .357 with eight digs.
Jayda Redd and Jayda Gray each had 10 digs. Redd added seven kills.
Holly picked up eight digs.
Emily Zgonc, in her collegiate debut, had three aces and seven digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS. MARIST
FIRST SET

Delaware led for the entirety of the first set. Yancey had three aces and Gillens had two kills to give UD a quick 6-0 lead.
With the score 8-6, UD scored seven of the next nine points to go up 15-8. Marist cut the lead to 21-18, but after a Delaware timeout, an ace by Gray and kills by Yancey and Campbell finished off the first set.
Campbell had five kills in the opening set and Inman had 10 assists. Yancey had four digs. Delaware hit .400 as a team

SECOND SET

Delaware again never trailed in the set, going up 5-0 immediately to open the second. Marist cut the lead to 7-4, and kept the score within four until Delaware took a 19-14 lead on an ace by Yancey.
Marist again battled back to get the lead to 21-20, but two kills by Murray, a kill by Yancey, and an ace by Gray gave UD the 25-21 set win.
Murray hit .571 in the second set with five kills.

THIRD SET

Set three featured 12 ties and two lead changes, with Marist holding the lead for a majority of the set after going up 6-4. Marist's largest lead was three at 11-8, 12-9, 13-10, and 20-17.
Gillens took over down the stretch, recording kills to cut Marist's lead to 20-19, 21-20, and 22-21 before tying the score at 22-22 and 23-23. Yancey had kills to give Delaware a 25-24 and 26-25 lead before Campbell finished off the match.
Gillens had seven kills in the set, and Yancey had five. Inman had 13 assists. Yancey also had 10 digs.

MATCH NOTES

Inman's 54 assists against Montana State was the most by a Delaware player in a season-opening match since Renee Tomko had 59 against Rice in 2011.
Inman's 54 assists against Montana State was a career high.
Yancey set career highs in kills (15 against Montana State), digs (16 against Marist), and aces (four against Marist). Her double-double against Marist was the first of her career.
Campbell set a career high in digs (eight against Montana State) and tied her career high in kills with seven in each match, last done on Sept. 20, 2025 against Saint Peter's.
Gray set career highs in digs (10 against Montana State) and aces (three against Marist).
Gillens recorded her 35th career double-digit kill match.
Redd's 10 digs against Montana State marked her ninth career double-digit dig match.
Zgonc and Carolina Sayeg Blak both made their collegiate debuts.
Delaware is 5-0 all-time against Marist, having won 15 of the 17 sets played.
