Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day vs. UMBC

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware women's soccer program celebrated senior day on Sunday as the Fightin' Blue Hens tied to UMBC 0-0 at Grant Stadium.
With the result, UD's overall record is 2-0-3.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- The Delaware offense held a 25-7 shots advantage, 10 of which were on goal. Brooke Vogel led the way with five shots, and two shots on goal. Cassandra Saldarini and Gabby Riley also contributed four shots.Â
- Sophia Hall started in net and collected two saves. She recorded her second-straight goalkeeper shutout.
- Hall, along with defenders Maura Fisher and Calista Collins played in all 90 minutes for the second-straight game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 35th minute, Olivia Bley received a cross from Riley in the middle of the goalkeeper's box. Her one-time shot was just over the cross bar. This was one of 12 first half shots from the Delaware offense.Â
- Hall made an excellent save in the 77th minute of the second half. A UMBC midfielder made a pass through multiple Blue Hens defenders into the keeper's box. Hall found herself in a one-on-one scenario with the Retrievers forward and saved the shot that was just over her head.Â
GAME NOTES
- The Blue Hens recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time this season. UD had back-to-back shutouts three different times in 2025.
- This is the 11th shutout under fourth-year head coach Kelly Lawrence.
- Prior to the start of the game, the women's soccer program honored five seniors: Willa Pratt, Taisiya Reid, Maggie Groh, Saldarini and Collins.
UP NEXT
UD hits the road for the first time this season, and travels to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania for a non-conference matchup against Bucknell on Thursday, September 3 at 7 p.m.
