Women's Soccer Closes Non-Conference Play With 2-1 Win Over Columbia

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware women's soccer program closed out non-conference play with a 2-1 victory over Columbia on Sunday at Grant Stadium.
The Fightin' Blue Hens will head into Conference USA play with a 5-2-3 overall record. UD is also set to host the CUSA women's soccer tournament from November 8-13.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Brooke Vogel led the Blue Hens in shots with three, and had one shot on goal. She was one of five athletes to record a shot on goal.
- Sophia Hall started in net, and collected eight saves, the second most in her collegiate career.
- Hall, along with defender Maura Fisher, played in all 90 minutes of Sunday's contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After conceding a goal early in the second half, Olaogun-Dickson tied the game at 1-1. Her goal came off with a free kick that was just outside the goalkeeper's box. The shot was deflected off the hands of the goalkeeper and went into the back of the net.Â
- The game-winning goal was scored by Ava Agresti off a corner kick with an assist from Gabby Riley. Riley's ball found Agresti in a scrummage of Blue Hens and Lions, deflected off of her and rolled past a diving goalkeeper to help secure the win.Â
GAME NOTES
- Olaogun-Dickson scored her second goal over the span of the last two games.Â
- Agresti's goal was the first of her collegiate career. Prior to Sunday's game, she had just two career assists.
- Over the last two seasons, the Blue Hens are 12-4-5 in non-conference play under fourth year head coach Kelly Lawrence.
