Former Blue Hen standout pitcher Chris Ludman returned to Newark in August of 2023 as an assistant coach. Ludman will serve as the Blue Hen’s assistant pitching coach and camp coordinator.
While pitching for the Blue Hens in 2017-2022, Ludman earned both a B.S. in Finance and an M.B.A. in Strategic Management. On the mound, the two-time team captain pitched in 58 games while making 42 starts. Over his 286.1 career innings, he had a 4.71 ERA and struck out the 6th most batters in program history (232).
A local product, Ludman was a standout athlete at nearby St. Marks High School where he named as the state of Delaware’s 2016-2017 Dynamic Male Athlete of the Year. In addition, he was named as the 2016-2017 DIAA Scholar Athlete of the Year and was awarded the National American Legion Baseball Player of the Year after leading Delaware Post 1 to the National Championship.
