Michael Riccio joined the University of Delaware Communications and Creative Services department in August 2022. He serves as the primary media contact for Delaware’s volleyball and softball programs while also serving as the coordinator of social media. He has previously served as the primary contact for men's soccer, swimming & diving, women's lacrosse, and rowing and secondary media contact for women's basketball and football.
Riccio served as Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at Southern Connecticut State University from 2019-2022, where he was the primary contact for men's soccer, men's basketball, women's lacrosse, and men's and women's track and field and cross country. Riccio secured and provided coverage of NCAA Javelin National Champion Jordan Davis while also covering multiple individual and team conference championships. He also provided local coverage of SCSU's men's basketball program, focusing on NBA Champion Scott Burrell and the program's community service efforts.
As an undergrad at Southern Connecticut, Riccio served as the Managing Editor and Sports Editor of the school's student-run newspaper, the Southern News, and as the News Director of the campus radio station, WSIN, while also providing play-by-play and color commentary for the school's football and men's and women's basketball programs. He also served as an on-air contributor at CT Sports Now, a live television show that showcased the day in Connecticut sports.
Riccio received his Bachelor's degree in journalism from Southern Connecticut in 2019. He earned a master’s degree in sports management-athletic administration from Southern Connecticut in 2021.
