CAROL A. MILLER
Field Hockey (1979-81)
Women’s Track & Field (1980-81)
Field Hockey Head Coach (1993-2010)
A 1982 graduate of Delaware, Carol is one of the most decorated athletes in University of Delaware field hockey history, earning All-American honors three times and competing as a member of the prestigious United States National Team.
A two-time team captain, she led the 1978 Blue Hen squad to a second place Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national finish and the 1981 team to a third place finish under UD Hall of Fame head coach Mary Ann Hitchens.
Her 46 career goals and 100 points still rank among the top leaders all-time at Delaware.
In track and field, Carol placed ninth in the javelin throw at the 1981 AIAW nationals for head coach Mary Shull and she held the school record in the event with a toss of 143-9 in 1980 until 2010. At the time it was the longest standing individual record in Delaware women's track & field history.
A native of East Petersburg, Pa., she became head field hockey coach at her alma mater in 1993 and consistently led the team to national prominence. During her 16-year career, her teams posted a combined record of 194-159 (.550), competed at the NCAA Tournament in 2004 and 2009, captured league titles twice, and finished as league runner-up three other times.
