Football (1968-70)
One of Delaware's all-time great fullbacks, Chuck Hall rushed for over 1,000 yards all three varsity seasons and his 3,157 career yards and 16 100-yard games stood as school records until 1994.
He was a 1970 third team Associated Press and honorable mention American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American and 1968 Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, He also earned first team All-East (ECAC) honors in 1969 and 1970.
Hall led the Blue Hens to a record of 26-7 and three straight Lambert Cup trophies during his career while playing under Hall of Fame head coach Tubby Raymond. The 1968 team went 8-3 and captured the Middle Atlantic Conference title with a 5-0 mark, the 1969 team went 9-2, won the MAC title with a 6-0 record, and defeated North Carolina Central in the Boardwalk Bowl, and the 1970 squad went 9-2 and downed Morgan State in the Boardwalk Bowl.
A standout in the Delaware backfield from the start of his career, he led the team in rushing all three of his varsity seasons, gaining a then school-record 1,071 yards on 205 carries with nine touchdowns in 1968, 1,000 yards on 200 carries with five touchdowns in 1969, and 1,084 yards on 198 carries with a school-record 17 touchdowns in 1970. He earned an NFL tryout with the Baltimore Colts following the 1970 season.
Hall passed away in 1973 at the age of 24. The Bob Carpenter Center Weight Room is named in his honor.
