KELLY B. CAWLEY
Field Hockey (1995-98)
A high-scoring forward in field hockey and a high-achieving student in the classroom, Kelly Cawley was a model student-athlete during her career with the Blue Hens in 1995-98.
A native of Oley, Pa., she was a two-year captain for UD Hall of Fame head coach Carol Miller and helped lead nationally-ranked Delaware teams to a record of 52-27, three conference tournament appearances, and a 1997 America East runner-up finish.
She established school records for points in a career (127) and assists in a game (4), season (21), and career (49) and earned first team All-America East and first team NFHCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors as senior in 1998 when she led the team with 9 goals and 19 assists for 37 points.
A 1999 Delaware graduate with a degree in psychology, Kelly was named the 1998 America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a two-time CoSIDA second team District II All-Academic selection. She capped her career by being named the 1999 NCAA Woman of the Year for the state of Delaware. Kelly went on to earn her master’s degree with honors in rehabilitation counseling from West Virginia University in 2001.
