Men's Basketball (1978-82)
Men's Track and Field (1979-82)
A high-scoring forward who brought excitement to Delaware Field House with his high-flying slam dunks, Ken Luck was a two-time Associated Press honorable mention All-American during his career with the Blue Hens in 1978-82.
He set an astounding 13 school records upon graduation, including scoring 1,613 career points, a mark that stood until 1997. Among his other UD marks were consecutive games scoring double figures (41), consecutive games scoring 20 or more points (7), career 30-point games (8), field goals made in a season (234 in 1980-81), field goals made in a career (674), field goal attempts in a career (1,278), field goal pct. in a career (.527), dunks in a game (8 vs. Rider in 1981-82), dunks in a season (45 in 1981-82), and dunks in a career (100).
He earned honorable mention All-American honors by the Associate Press in both 1980-81 and 1981-82, was a two-time All-East Conference selection, and was a three-time winner of the UD Alumni Association Col. C.B. Shaffer Team Most Valuable Player Award.
Following his career, he was selected in the eighth round of the 1982 National Basketball Association Draft by the Washington Bullets but did not make the squad. He played overseas for several seasons.
In track and field, Luck's was an outstanding jumper and posted a career-best outdoor triple jump of 49-9 3/4, a mark that remained a Delaware record for several decades. He also captured the 1980 ECC outdoor triple jump title.
A 1982 Delaware graduate, he has gone on to a successful high school basketball coaching career in Maryland.
