University of Delaware Field Hockey Returns to Rullo Stadium with Contests against Temple and Appalachian State

NEWARK, Del. - - Having a full week off from competition, the University of Delaware field hockey team will compete against two teams in three days this weekend at Rullo Stadium.
The Blue Hens will open the weekend on Friday against I-95 rival Temple starting at 7 p.m. After taking Saturday to recover, the Blue Hens will bounce right back and host Appalachian State on Sunday starting at noon.
Scouting the University of Delaware Blue Hens (3-2):
The Blue Hens are coming off a tough 6-0 loss to Kookaburra / NFHCA National Coaches Poll number one ranked North Carolina last Friday in their most recent matchup.
Senior goalkeeper Noelle Diana (above right) made 14 stops on the afternoon, but the top ranked Tar Heels were too much to overcome.
Rebecca Pepper recorded her first defensive save of the season late in the game, but the offense couldn't find its rhythm.
For the season, the Blue Hens have spread out their offense, not depending on any certain individual to carry the scoring load. Ten different players have scored while 13 have recorded a point.
Tory Sharpless leads the goal scorers with four, also adding an assist, for nine points. Freshman Kelsey McKee follows closely with three goals while sophomore Kasey Prettyman has tallied two goals and two assists for a tie with McKee with six points.
Diana has seen the bulk of the playing time in goal for Delaware, as she has started all five games and played all but one half. She has recorded 35 saves and keeps a 3.11 goals against average.
Scouting the Temple University Owls (2-4):
The Owls are coming off a 4-3 overtime victory last Sunday against Kent State. Bridgett Settles gave the home team the overtime win with her third goal of the match with 1:06 remaining in the period.
For Settles, it was her second hat trick of the season as she leads the team with eight goals. She tallied the Owls first goal of the match giving the team the 1-0 halftime lead. She put home a penalty stroke in the 60th minute to put Temple up 3-2 before notching the overtime winner.
Settles has 17 points, adding an assists to her eight goals. Caryn Lambright is second on the team with five points, contributing two goals and an assist. Carissa Young and Amber Youtz are the only other Owls to score a goal.
Lizzy Millen has played over 375 minutes in goal for Temple, making 30 saves. She carries a 3.17 goals against average and has recorded one shutout on the season.
Scouting the Appalachian State University Mountaineers (0-5):
Appalachian State is coming off a pair of losses last weekend in Louisville. They dropped a 3-2 decision on Saturday to Missouri State before losing to Louisville, 6-0.
Two time NorPac East Rookie of the Week, Brooke Angellella leads the Mountaineers with four points, and four shots on goal. She tallied a mark against Missouri State to give ASU a 2-1 lead, but the Mountaineers couldn't hang on for their first victory of the season.
This marks the third straight week an Appalachian State player was named NorPac East Rookie of the Week as Jessi Stuart earned the honor in the first week of the season.
Brooke Shearer, Stuart and Lauren Kloeppinger each have recorded a goal for the Mountaineer, and including Angellella, are the only goal scorers on the season.
Bridgette Street has played over 268 minutes on the season, recording 32 stops in five starts. Street has a 5.21 goals against average on the season.
