Wilmington N.C. to Host Future Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Tournaments Beginning in 2014

The Blue Hens were runner-up in the CAA Baseball Championships a year ago at James Madison University and have the reigning CAA Tournament Most Valuable Player, junior Jimmy Yezzo, returning for the 2013 campaign.
The postseason tournament was held in Wilmington from 2004-2011 before moving to Harrisonburg, Va. in 2012 and 2013 at James Madison's Veterans Memorial Park.
“We're excited about the CAA Baseball Championship returning to Wilmington for 2014 and 2015,” CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager said. “Their tremendous facilities, the significant local interest and the region's amenities make this an ideal site for our teams and fans.”
Brooks Field has been the host of the CAA Baseball Championship 11 times, including 1989, 1990 and 1993, along with the eight-year run from 2004-11. The CAA Baseball Championship features a six-team, double-elimination format played out over four days. The first three days feature three games each day, followed by Saturday's championship.
Brooks Field, which has a capacity of 3,000, includes surrounding regulation fields for practice, concession areas, restrooms and a press box. The tournament has received outstanding community support in past years.
The Blue Hens will have two fall exhibition games, the first on Sunday, October 21 at 11 a.m. versus Wilmington University and on Friday, October 26 against Harford (Md.) Community College at 2 p.m. Both games will be held at Delaware's Bob Hannah Stadium.
