Delaware's offense hammered 18 hits en route to the 14 runs scored while the Blue Hens pitching staff yielded one earned run and struck out 14 Wilmington batters.
““I was very pleased with the performance our guys put on today,” Delaware head coach Jim Sherman said. “We have been progressing every day throughout the fall and it was fun to see us play against a different color uniform for once.”
Offensive standouts for the Blue Hens were: Jimmy Yezzo, who went 3-for-6 with 1 home run, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, Ty Powell added 2 hits, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored while Nick Ferdinand added a pair of base knocks with one RBI and two runs scored.
Delaware's pitching standouts were: winning pitcher Chad Kuhl who tossed three hitless innings on the mound with four strikeouts, Adam Davis added three scoreless innings of relief with two hits and two strikeouts while reliever Chris Branigan struck out four with one hit in two scoreless innings on the mound.
“Our pitching staff did a tremendous job of throwing quality strikes and our offense put a lot of pressure on their pitchers,” Sherman added. “We still have some work to do in some areas but all in all, I was very proud of the effort the guys put in today.”
The Blue Hens complete their fall schedule on Friday, October 26 at 2:30 p.m. when Delaware hosts Harford (Md.) Community College at Bob Hannah Stadium.
