Jonjic?, Lai and Safron Compete at USTA/ITA Northeast Regional

Safron picked up the lone win for the Blue Hens against the top players in the region from 46 Division I schools.. She opened with a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Fordham's Angie Dabu. Ioana Alecsiu (Columbia) then defeated Safron, 6-3, 6-4, to advance in the tournament.
In the same bracket, Lai fell in a close match to Harvard's Natalie Blosser, 7-5, 6-2.
Jonjic' also lost in a close one, 6-3, 6-3, to host Army's Jamila Paul.
Lai and Safron teamed up for doubles action and took on NJIT. The Highlanders came out on top by a score of 9-7.
Delaware takes the next few weeks off before opening their spring slate in search of the first Colonial Athletic Association championship in team history on January 27 against Morgan State.
